Would that be equivalent to organically grokking?

Funny you should mention that term. CarolinaMom and I just savored a mom/urchin weekend, and I asked her when she got into sci-fi. She allowed as how it was when she was a teenager and first read Heinlein and Clarke. And her first Heinlein? Stranger in a Strange Land, natch. She's pondering re-reading it, as she'd forgotten the term grok.

Heinlein was my fav in the early to mid '70s. Started with the series that was aimed more towards kids as that's what my school's library stocked. SIASL was rather startling for a naive, young 'Noise. Would probably seem kinda tame 30-some years later.
